A polticalish post.

I am reminded that it is the prime of election season, not a silly midterm, but the full real meal deal. Presidential elections. The observation I make about the Republican and Democratic party is this. Put Lincoln(R. IL), Kennedy(D. MA), and Nixon (R. CA) in the same room together to talk. Lincoln and Kennedy would have a better conversation than Lincoln and Nixon would. Even though Nixon and Lincoln are from the same party.

Yes, but then if we listened to Jefferson, we would be a Country of farmers. However, he ascribed to the Washingtonian idea of staying out of Foreign affairs, well Unless you were France.

Well, how much of that was the French and how much of that was the French Revolution?

A good chunk of it was the French Revolution and the thought that America should aide in bringing democracy to France. After all they had helped us in our cause against the British some years before. For better or for worse, I would have sided with Adams and not gotten involved. We were a fledgling nation and needed to not piss off to many people who would have had no problems running us over. (see war of 1812).

Yeah, but I am more of a Jefforsonian.

If the country is going to be built on Ideals, it needs to live up to those Ideals.

One of the big problems of the current political climate is the fact that the ideals of our government are only occasionally given lip service.
