Geek I am a geek. I may not be the standard run of the mill geek, but a geek none the less. I work in the tech industry, I have eclectic tastes, and Im not above spending ridiculous amounts on things that most people would consider a waste (Yes I did in fact spend more than 100 dollars on my Bob’s Big Boy wrist watch.) I like technology, I like old and cool things ,and I can’t wait till I can actually have a computer screwed into my head with a decent connection so that I may never be disconnected from the net again.
Baycon Hmmm. I first started out doing this thing as a party con. Low and behold when I Was 18 and on leave I went to my first one in 96 I think it was. I didn’t have a badge, I didn’t have a room, but I was there and I did things that should not be mentioned as a matter of public record. So having gone from a ghoster to the Chairman of the convention is a real eye opening experience for me. I still love this con and will continue to love it, even when Im charred beyond any recognition.
Chivalry Is dead and fits in my pocket. No Really, the ideal of chivalry is a great one, but the traditional concept is pretty dead. However, with that said I tend to revert to some beat in morals of Souther Hospitality. Things such as getting the door for a someone, saying yes and no Sir or Ma’am, making sure that guests do not pay for themselves, etc. However, We all know me, well at least somepeople do, I sometimes falter from these graces, But I do what I can.
Work Work… I love this place, even after six months, some fucked up shit, a VP that didn’t probably caused some major damage to me on their way out the door, and shrinking in a department and watching my workload speed up. Stress, I thrive on it and this company gives it to me in doses that are easy to manage. Now to be honest, I really wish I didn’t have to be in at 6 in the morning. However, after a while you get used to it and things work out. Get some training and a thing or two here and there and I might actually make a career out of this.
Military The double I hate you and love you sword all in one swoop. The military is what has made me a lot of what I am today and gave me responsibility and accountability and my work ethic. However they also have given me that Fuck everyone and do what I want to do attitude as well as my utter contempt for people and that got became compounded with my slight misenthropic ways, and now you have me to deal with. I would still do it all over again, but probably not in this lifetime. I am glad though I went military first. I would have never made it out of college had I gone when I was 18.
