December 18th was the last time I had a soda. I weighed myself today. I am down 7 pounds since the last weigh in. That seems like progress to me.

It's hard to give stuff up that you enjoy. My trick for giving up junk food, which I try to do periodically, is to find better tasting stuff (which is usually more expensive), that I let myself have, in moderation. Instead of a soda every day, an Izze or a really nice real-sugar soda once a week. One high quality chocolate bar a week instead of crappy vending machine candy every day. It helps me lose my taste for the low-quality junk food, which makes the sacrifice less onerous.

Good on you though, for doing this for yourself. How exciting to see such great weight loss from a simple (if difficult) switch!

The hope is that I get the 30% statistical weight gain that you get for drinking soda back. I figure that if it worked like that (ya right) I could in theory be back down to under 200.
